He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. A West Lothian man who had to watch through a care home window as his dad deteriorated says Boris Johnson needs to “do the decent thing” and resign over this week’s revelations of a BYOB party at Downing Street during lockdown.In the last months of his life, Tommy Davidson’s dad Lex could not stand, talk or eat very well and for months the former councillor’s family could not visit him because of the risk of covid.Tommy said he is furious to learn that during those dark days when Lex’s family couldn’t be with him, garden parties and gatherings were being held at Downing Street.The Prime Minister has apologised for attending a drinks party in the Downing Street garden in May 2020.The gathering is understood to have been attended by around 40 people and Mr Johnson said he believed it was a work event.Tommy said: “To learn that the UK Government had parties during 2020, is truly sickening.“Those who attended a party with PM Boris Johnston during covid should be ashamed, and Mr Johnston should do the decent thing and resign.”Lex passed away in November last year and Tommy said when his family were allowed to see him they had to keep their distance and wear a mask.There was no holding hands, kisses, cuddles or privacy - “just a wave goodbye.”He told The Courier: “Like thousands of people, we had to stand at a window and wave and try and have a conversation.
