Wendy Williams’ family has had enough.The TV personality’s loved ones have launched a GoFundMe to raise $50,000 for the talk show host, 60, who has been experiencing “loneliness and deep isolation” amid her guardianship.Williams’ family created the fund-raiser on Wednesday.After the GoFundMe was launched, Williams and her niece, Alex Finnie, called into “The Breakfast Club” to address the claims she is cognitively impaired and wanting freedom from the controversial guardianship.She’s currently in a facility in New York, where she is able to call her loved ones but they are unable to call her.
Williams also has no access to the internet via a laptop or iPad.Williams — who was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in May 2023 — compared the guardianship to a “prison.”The GoFundMe campaign has raised $12,171 of its $50,000 goal so far.
A photo on the fund-raiser page shows a sweet snap of Williams and Finnie.“For far too long, Wendy has faced the challenges of being unjustly placed under guardianship and labeled as incapacitated, despite her strong will and determination to live her life independently,” the description reads.”“Her current situation is not only unfair but also deeply isolating.
The guardian assigned to her has severed her connections with friends and family, leaving her without the support network she so desperately needs.
