A yellow weather warning remains in place as Greater Manchester braces for a second day of high winds. Heavy rain and gusts of around 50mph are expected to hit the region for most of Sunday morning, with the worst of the conditions clearing by the afternoon.

People are being warned to expect 'some travel disruption' and to check train times and road closures ahead of time as they travel across the country for Christmas.

Winds are expected to remain high all day but slowly decrease, with gusts of around 40mph forecast by the evening. The rainy weather is also set to clear by around 4pm. "Another very windy day with severe gales possible in coastal areas, perhaps bringing some travel disruption in places," the Met Office forecasts. "Sunny intervals and showers, these frequent in places and wintry during this morning.

Feeling very cold in the wind. Maximum temperature 6 °C." The yellow weather warning is in place until 9pm on Sunday evening (December 22).
