Looking out of the window at the grey skies and lashing rain, it might not seem like it - but there is a fresh heatwave heading for the UK in a matter of days. That's the assessment of forecasters who reckon we're about to see a dramatic end to one of the most disappointing British summers anyone can remember (and that's saying something).Three regions are expected to get the best of the weather as the jet stream moves over the centre of the UK bringing a mixed picture to the UK weather map.

Netweather forecasts for next week show with temperatures rocketing to a peak of 27C on Thursday 11 July, when southeast England will enjoy six hours of heatwave weather.

Charts indicate that London, which is set to be the hottest area, will feel like 28C - the hottest area. Eastern England, southeast England and Western England are also lit up red in revealing weather maps.

However, it's not good news all over the country, with wet and windy weather expected to persists in parts of the north and west of the UK in the coming days.
