Weather maps show when heavy rain and 40mph winds will hit Greater Manchester today

Heavy rain and winds of around 40mph are set to hit Greater Manchester later today, with a yellow weather warning in place from this afternoon.

A Met Office precipitation map shows when the downpours are set to hit our region, with heavy showers expected to fall from around 3pm.

After a mostly settled morning, forecasters predict rain will batter much of Greater Manchester all afternoon and until around 11pm this evening.

Strong gusts will build from about 5pm, before reaching speeds of around 42mph in our region at around 8pm. The Met Office yellow weather warning for wind comes in from 3pm.
