The X Factor, the show's contestants were still left to fly in economy.The Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two presenter made the revelation on Alan Carr's Life's A Beach podcast this week.During their chat, Rylan opened up about his whirlwind experience on the ninth series of the former ITV talent show in 2012.James Arthur won the season, with Jahmene Douglas coming in second place.And while The X Factor was still in its heyday at the time, Rylan has made it no secret that producers were being extra careful with their budget.In the podcast, Alan brought up the moment Rylan broke down in tears upon learning he had made to the live shows.The TV personality learned the news from his mentor Nicole Scherzinger at the judges' houses.Rylan was fortunate enough to fly out to Dubai for the occasion.But when quizzed by Alan on whether the estate belonged to the former Pussycat Dolls star, Rylan confessed that the property was partially rented out for the purpose of filming."I wasn't born yesterday, that is not Nicole Shirtlifters house," he quipped."No, we were at a beautiful hotel.
A royal residence…""That's when X Factor had a bit of money."Rylan then touched on having filmed himself checking in at the first-class lounge at the airport, further mentioning that Virgin Airlines were partnered with the show that year.But when it came time to board the plane, producers instructed the contestants to sit in the economy seats as soon as the cameras were no longer filming."I was like, 'Oh, how exciting.'"Little bit of filming at the bar, and then they're like, 'Right, back of the plane.'"Once filming stopped, we were in economy."Express.co.uk has contacted ITV for comment.
