The grieving husband of a former nurse killed by a 'furious' driver in Bolton says his future plans have been 'cruelly ripped away'.

Mohammed Irshad, 36, drove a Mercedes-Benz at around twice the speed limit on St Helens Road before smashing into a Nissan as he tried to overtake a car.

Inside the Nissan were Karen Kimblin, a mother-of-four who had seven grandchildren at the time, and her husband, Kenneth. Mrs Kimblin, 63, tragically died from her injuries following the crash - while Mr Kimblin, who was driving the Nissan, also suffered injuries.

Irshad has now been jailed for 14 years after being convicted of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. In a heartbreaking tribute to his wife, Mr Kimblin described her as 'the greatest thing that happened to me'.
