A couple say they are now 'living the dream' in Lanzarote after selling up and moving away from the UK. Helen and Stephen Walker decided to upsticks to the sunny destination after realising they could 'never afford early retirement in the UK'.
Helen, 56, and Stephen, 55, took the plunge after a tragic year following the death of three people close to them. After wanting to retire early, they quit their property business and sold their three-bed semi in Leicestershire, and relocated to Yaiza, a town n Lanzarote.
Whilst living in the UK, the pair were shedding out £650 a month on their mortgage, plus £230 for their gas, electric and water bills in the UK.
They are now mortgage-free and live a life of luxury, spending their days exploring and relaxing on the Canary Island.
