Kevin Meridith's mother, Pat, 79, has Alzheimer's and is currently living at Chestnut House care home in Crumpsall. His father, Doug Meridith, 81, receives no financial support from the local authority and pays the monthly fees for his wife's care out of his pension.

The family have not been able to see Pat since lockdown began, which has had an increasing strain on her mental health. Two weeks-ago, Doug received a letter from Chestnut House, informing him the cost would be increasing to £575 a week.
