Rooney is currently out of work after leaving Plymouth at the end of last year after he picked up just five wins from 25 games.
His departure followed his short spell at Birmingham City last season. On Tuesday, Rooney will return to punditry with Amazon for the first-time since his departure from Holmes Park.
The 39-year-old has appeared on The Overlap's 'Stick to Football' podcast but hasn't been part of a punditry team since the European Championship in Germany.
