Popular attraction Waterworld continues to remain closed after more than 100 people were evacuated yesterday (June 8). Reports emerged of two people being taken to hospital while 46 were treated at the scene after groups of visitors reported 'eye and throat irritation and nausea'.

Staffordshire Police, West Midlands Ambulance Service, an air ambulance and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at around 2pm yesterday, Stoke on Trent Live reports.

Waterworld has described the large emergency response as a 'huge over-reaction' and 'incredibly distressing for our customers and our staff'.

The attraction issued a statement on social media, confirming it will be shut once again today, but plan to be open on Friday.
