Bea's story As implausible as it sounds, the news that I had an eating disorder came as a surprise to me, because it had never been a deliberate choice.
Very slowly, and for reasons I don’t fully understand myself, at the age of 14, I began to control what and how much I’d eat.Around that time my friends were becoming aware of what they were eating and talking about their bodies, and it was a time when size-zero models were ubiquitous.
I was average-sized but I began quietly obsessing about my weight, and compiled a subconscious ‘blacklist’ of foods that were off-limits: everything from red meat and pizza to cheese, pasta and cake.
