Kilda, Melbourne.He began the impromptu set last night (March 19) with only an hour’s notice, though the takeaway quickly filled with fans and news reporters.One journalist from Australia’s Channel 9 attempted to get an interview with the DJ, who said: “I can’t talk right now, I’m working,” in response to a microphone being put in front of his face.In a pre-set interview, Slim said it was “fantastic” to play the unexpected gig. “At my age, and at my stage of my career, there’s very few things left on my bucket list,” he told Channel 10 news.“Playing in a chip shop was one of them.
I’ve played in a butcher’s, I’ve played in an igloo… I’ve played some stupid places! But I’ve never played in a chip shop, and I’m very pleased and proud.
