Cyndi Lauper teamed up with Sam Smith for a duet of ‘Time After Time’ at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.The pop icon took over the legendary venue on Wednesday (October 30) as part of her ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour’.
Lauper kicked off the night with her hit track ‘The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough’ before playing tracks from her career-spanning discography.Towards the end of her set, Lauper busted out ‘Time After Time’ and brought out Smith as a surprise guest.
The ‘Stay With Me’ singer appeared during the second verse. The two held hands and danced while singing that track.Smith has previously covered Lauper’s 1984 hit back in 2021 in Abbey Road Studios as part of their ‘Love Goes: Live At Abbey Road Studios’ album. ‘Time After Time’ was released as the pop icon’s debut LP ‘She’s So Unusual’.
It peaked at Number One and has often been referred to as one of the best songs ever written.The ‘True Colors’ singer is set to perform at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee tonight (November 1).
