Bad Bunny will merge his long-standing passion for wrestling with his more recent, likely far more lucrative passion for acting with a role in the upcoming film Cassandro, and the film’s first trailer is out today.
Watch it above via Stereogum. The film is a biopic based on the life and career of Saúl Armendáriz, a Mexican-American wrestler who in 1989 began performing under the name Cassandro (Cassandro is played in the film by Gael García Bernal).
Cassandro was what’s known in the wrestling world as an “exótico,” a male performer who may wear drag and use stereotypes of queer mannerisms and behavior.
Unlike almost all other wrestlers, Cassandro was gay, and over the years managed to develop a cult following in the wrestling circuit.
