New warning signs at a beauty spot where a schoolboy drowned in a lake have now been put up, but don't feature the words 'no unauthorised swimming', a coroner has said.
The siting of life-saving 'throw lines' has also been questioned in a new report arising from the tragic death of 15 year-old Alex Crook in Wigan.
Wigan Council, in response, said safety reviews at sites of open water across the borough have been carried out since Alex's death.
Council bosses said the coroner's concerns would 'be given full consideration' and 'appropriate action will follow'. Alex, a popular pupil at Standish High School, got into difficulty at Scotsman's Flash in Wigan while visiting with friends on September 7, 2024.
