Walter Smith recovering in hospital as Rangers and Scottish football legend undergoes operation

Walter Smith is recovering from an operation in hospital. The Ibrox icon underwent surgery earlier this week and is currently in recovery.

The Rangers legend has been a regular follower of the club and joined close friend Graeme Souness on club TV earlier in the season.

He won 13 trophies in his first spell at the club between 1991 and 1998 after he stepped up from assistant manager to replace Souness.Smith enjoyed a glorious return in 2007 and would go on to guide Rangers to three consecutive titles and led them to the UEFA Cup Final in Manchester in 2008.He retired at the end of the 2011 season but returned to the club he loved as non-executive chairman in 2013.Get all the latest Rangers news sent straight to your Inbox every day by.
