A rescue operation was launched after a hiker suffered an injury in a fall at a remote beauty spot. Paramedics and volunteers from Oldham Mountain Rescue Team were scrambled to the foot of Birchen Clough in the moors above Dovestones Reservoir.

It came after a walker injured their ankle while doing the Dovestones circular route. After being checked over at the scene the walker was stretchered to a waiting ambulance.

The rescue took around 90 minutes.
