Salford’s Chapel Street has been something of a development hotspot in recent years with blocks and flats springing up and a thriving food and drink scene.
Yet hidden away in a museum at the end of the road is a very different street to the one outside. Overlooking Peel Park on the Crescent is the magnificent red-brick Salford Museum and Art Gallery.
It may not attract as much attention as Manchester’s museums, yet it packs a punch with an impressive collections of paintings, sculptures and artwork housed in spacious galleries.
Among the exhibitions is Lark Hill Place, an authentic recreation of a Victorian Street which instantly transports you back in time.
