5 Point Film, in collaboration with Fat Tire and Mountains of Color Film Festival, has revealed the recipients of the second annual Wading for Change BIPOC Filmmakers Grant.
This grant, established by Sofia Jaramillo and Jr Rodriguez, aims to center BIPOC voices within the adventure film industry.
The $20,000 grant has been split between two creatives: David Yousling for Beyond the Saddles and Mallory Duncan for Night Writers.First-time filmmaker Yousling’s Beyond the Saddles follows non-binary runner Blank Bruno exploring identity and finding community through trail running, set against the backdrop of the trails of Prescott, Arizona.
As 5 Point Flagship Festival alumni with his second film, Duncan’s Night Writers explores the stylistic and ideological connections between graffiti artists and street skiers by way of a ski mask.
