Pep Guardiola give Vincent Kompany a glowing reference before Bayern Munich appointed him, the German club have claimed, and the Belgian could reportedly be casting an eye back at the Etihad when it comes to the transfer market.
Kompany was announced as Bayern manager on Wednesday, ending their long search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel that few would have expected would result in the Burnley boss taking over at the Allianz Arena.
But Kompany is highly rated and his work at Anderlecht and Burnley has not gone unnoticed, despite their relegation from the Premier League this season.
His task is now to build a side capable of reclaiming the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen, as well as competing in the expanded Champions League after they lost in the semi-finals this season.
