Residents are being asked to give their views on the planned creation of new primary schools at South Stirling Gateway and Durieshill.The schools are to be part of the first phases of the new housing developments being built at the sites in the coming years with new catchment areas created as part of the process.One primary school is to be built at South Stirling Gateway and two at Durieshill.Full information, including the school proposal papers are available to view on the Engage Stirling platform, with the consultation remaining open until Friday, March 1.And a public meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 6 at 6.30pm in Bannockburn Primary School where the proposals for the schools will also be discussed.According to consultation documents, an estimated 600 primary school-aged pupils will be generated by the Durieshill project upon completion of the full site.Stirling Council’s Schools, Learning and Education Service has determined that this would require the establishment of two new non-denominational primary school within the site.Secondary school provision will be available at Bannockburn High School.
Bannockburn High School currently has the capacity to accommodate secondary school pupils arising from Durieshill and another development for approximately seven academic years based on current projections.
Discussions are ongoing as to how best mitigate capacity breaches that are projected in future.In the Durieshill documents, officers said: “Based on current projections, the education estate will be constructed over a phased period of time.
It is anticipated that completion of the housing development will start in 2024/2025 with the first primary school being required by 2026/2027.
