Now the 49-year-old killer has died while serving a life sentence at HMP Shotts near Glasgow. An inquiry will be held into the circumstances of his death at a later stage.Homeless Callander was jailed for a minimum of 14 and a half years after admitting murdering 54-year-old Brian, known as Tucker, at an address in the town’s Gilbert Circle.The High Court in Glasgow heard the friends, and another man, Robert Burgess, had been drinking when Callander suddenly jumped up and pulled Brian to the floor.Mr Burgess later told police the victim had “no chance” as Callander launched a brutal attack.
