Veterinary practice becomes South Lanarkshire's 100th living wage employer

A Clydesdale veterinary practice has become the 100th accredited Living Wage employer in South Lanarkshire.Two Rivers Veterinary Practice in Biggar has joined more than 2700 employers across Scotland who are now accredited with the Living Wage scheme, which is supported by South Lanarkshire Council.Living Wage accreditation formally recognises and praises employers who choose to go further than the government minimum wage.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The accreditation process was very easy.“By becoming Living Wage accredited, we recognise and hope to demonstrate to others that all team members working in a veterinary practice are highly skilled and certainly deserving of at least a Living Wage hourly rate.“Veterinary receptionists, animal care assistants and veterinary nurses are traditionally not well paid, which we think is wrong.”The Real Living Wage is an independently calculated rate which is based on the cost of living and
