A partially-sighted pensioner claims he was left stranded at an airport after Ryanair stopped him from boarding his flight.SAS veteran Brian Denvir said a mix-up with the name on his boarding pass meant check-in staff at Cork airport refused to let him onto his flight to Manchester Airport.
Mr Denvir, 76, is known as Brian, but his passport is under his Christian name Bernard. He says the issue started when he realised his boarding pass said Brian, which didn't match his passport.
The retired haulage company boss said 'inconsiderate' staff would not allow him on the aircraft, despite him showing them a number of other forms of ID with Bernard on it, reports Manchester Evening News.Brian has a second home in West Cork close to his daughter and her family and had already missed an earlier flight on Thursday, September 7, after arriving late to the airport due a fatal accident on the roads.
Mr Denvir, who says he spent 10 years in the SAS, was eventually allowed to board a later flight to Liverpool, free of charge.
