A Renfrewshire councillor has blasted the culprits who vandalised a remembrance bench in Renfrew. The bench, which sits beside the town’s war memorial, was first reported to be damaged by Renfrew Rotary on its Facebook page.
The non-profit organisation said it was “sad and angry” to report of the vandalism. The post read: “Very sad and angry to report that the new remembrance bench installed by our club beside the town’s war memorial has been damaged.
Some lowlifes have bent two of the legs on the bench while presumably trying to detach the bench from its fixing bolts. “It is still secure and still useable but will need to be repaired.
Sad to think that people like that live amongst us in our wee town.”Now Renfrew North and Braehead representative Jamie McGuire insists the community is right to be outraged at the actions of those responsible.
