Useless 'funny money' fraudster is jailed. Again

A fraudster with a string of convictions for trying to pass off "funny money" has been jailed. Jamie O'Brien, 31, from Bolton, was caught again when he visited an Asda store in Carlisle in February.

He tried to buy goods with a fake Bank of Ireland £50 note. But a cashier immediately became suspicious as it "felt like photograph paper".

Prosecutor, David Bentley, told Carlisle Crown Court: “She felt it wasn’t real." It was checked by staff in store. “There were no ultra-violet marks, no water marks, no security strip,” said Mr Bentley.
