Urgent search to find mum who vanished from Ayrshire shopping centre

Police say they're becoming increasingly concerned for an Ayrshire mum who vanished on Friday afternoon. Leona Strachan was last seen in Greggs in the Rivergate shopping centre in Irvine ahead of the weekend and she hasn't been seen or heard from since.

Cops have said this evening that her family, including her kids, have been left incredibly distressed by the 30-year-old's disappearance.Sergeant Claire Duffy, of Irvine Police Station said Leona's disappearance is completely out of character and has appealed to the public to help trace her.Leona is described as around 5ft 6in tall, with long blonde hair.When last seen, she was wearing a blue scarf, blue jacket, navy jeans, black trainers and carrying a black handbag.It is not known if she is still wearing the same clothes.Sergeant Duffy added: "This is a distressing time for Leona's family, including her children, who are extremely concerned that she has not been in contact with them."We are also becoming increasingly concerned as this is completely out of character."Extensive searches and enquiries have been carried out throughout the local area in an effort to trace Leona."Think back, have you noticed anyone matching her description?"If you have, or have any information which could assist with our enquiries, please contact the police."Anyone or who has any information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 1586 of Friday, February 26.Don't miss the latest Ayrshire headlines –sign up to our free daily newsletter here
