A frantic search has been launched in an effort to locate a Scots man who vanished two days ago. Officers say Mark Elston was last seen on the morning of Tuesday, September, 12 when he left Kenneth Street in Stornoway.
The following day, Wednesday, September, 13 Mark contacted one of his friends at around 2pm and arranged to meet up.Police say his family are 'concerned' for his welfare are urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.Mark was driving a blue Volvo C70 convertible car.
He is described as around 6 feet tall, of medium build, with long dark hair and a beard.He has blue eyes, a scar on his lip, normally wears black trousers and a black jacket, and often wears a leather pendant necklace.Police enquiries to date show that he may have travelled to the Butt of Lewis.Sergeant Stephen Goodhind said: “Mark’s family and friends are understandably concerned.
We know Mark was planning to meet up with a friend, but no-one has seen or heard from him since Wednesday."I am appealing to anyone who may have seen Mark or who may have seen him driving his car to contact us as it could assist our ongoing enquiries.”Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3384 of 13 September, 2023.
