A body has been found in the search for a missing man who vanished from a campsite in Skye.Francis Johnson, 74, had travelled from his home in Dorset to go hillwalking in the area and was last seen at the Glenbrittle camping site in Skye on Wednesday, September 6.
A multi-agency search was launched to trace the experienced walker and camper after his car and equipment was discovered at the campsite.Police have now confirmed that a body has been found on the Cuillin range during the search for Francis.
Formal identification is still to take place but his family has been informed.Francis had travelled to Scotland to attempt walking Sgurr nan Eag, Banachdich, Bruach Na Frithe, and Blaven.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The body of a man has been found on the Cuillin range in the Isle of Skye during searches for a missing person."He is yet to be formally identified but the family of Francis Johnson, 74, who had been reported missing in the area, have been informed."
