Urgent appeal from Scots cops to trace man as public warned to 'avoid' him

Police Scotland has appealed to the public for information on a man they "wish to speak with urgently" - as the public have been advised to stay away from him.Jamie Ross was last seen in Edinburgh this afternoon.

And officers have launched an urgent search for him, with specialist officers drafted in to try and help track him down.The 29-year-old is thought to have been present in the city's Howdenhall Road area at around 12.28pm today and was last seen shortly after near to the city's Cameron Toll shopping centre.He was wearing a black puffer jacket, dark trousers and grey trainers when he was last seen and is 5ft 9ins tall with dark hair, bushy eyebrows and blue eyes. Officers say he also has the word DAD tattooed on his right hand and that, as well as having connections across Edinburgh, particularly in the south of the city, he has links to Aberdeen.Police Scotland Chief Inspector Mark Hamilton said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing to trace Jamie with support from specialist officers."While Jamie is believed to have connections to the south of Edinburgh we are keeping an open mind regarding his whereabouts at this time and would urge anyone with information to please get in touch."Anyone who sees a man matching Jamie’s description is advised not to approach him but to instead contact Police Scotland urgently on 101, quoting incident number 1458 of Tuesday, 23 April, 2024."
