Update on arrest after man 'chases car with hedge trimmer' at petrol station

A suspect who was arrested after footage circulated of a man 'chasing a car with a hedge trimmer' at a petrol station in Salford has been released on bail, police have confirmed.

Footage of the terrifying incident was shared widely on social media. It was filmed at the Shell petrol garage on Regent Road on Monday night (August 5).

The clip appeared to show a male running from the petrol station towards a van. He then grabbed the hedge trimmer and appeared to charge towards a car with the power tool in his hands. Yesterday, Greater Manchester Police said a man - aged in his 30s - had been arrested on suspicion of affray. He was taken into custody for questioning.
