'Unsafe' conviction of 17-year-old jailed over 'gang revenge plot' relied on 'racial stereotypes', Court of Appeal hears

The 'unsafe' prosecution of a boy from Manchester jailed over an alleged gangland revenge plot played on 'racial stereotypes', the court of appeal has heard.

Ademola Adedeji, now 21, was 17 when he was said to have become involved in plotting revenge attacks over the murder of his friend John Soyoye, who went to the same church.

In 2022 following a trial he and five others were convicted of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm. They are appealing against their convictions.

Mr Soyoye, an aspiring rapper also known as MD or Morsley, was regarded as the 'leader' of the Moston based M40 gang, a trial heard.
