Union reacts as bus driver strikes OFF after '18 per cent' pay rise secured
manchestereveningnews.co.ukA union has spoken out after a pay deal for striking bus drivers was secured, bringing industrial action to an end. Unite said strikes by its members at First Manchester - and Greater Manchester Accessible Transport (GMAT) - were now off following improved pay deals.
As reported in the Manchester Evening News, bosses at First Manchester announced its latest pay offer has been accepted by union members, ending a six-month dispute.
Unite members based at the First depot, in Oldham, have recently walked out over pay on a number of occasions. The union said its members at First were among the worst paid by bus providers in Greater Manchester before taking industrial action this year.
But the latest round of strike action was halted for a ballot to take place on Wednesday over a new pay deal, which has now been accepted.
