A plume of warm air from eastern Europe could trigger thunderstorms across England over the coming days. Thunder, lightning and heavy downpours may spell a soggy end to what has been a gloriously sunny and warm Saturday for most.
After a plume of hot air rises up from eastern Europe, which is currently enjoying a run of days in which the temperature is in high 20s, it will be drawn in by the low pressure hanging over the English Channel.
This will create the right conditions for thunderstorms to break out in parts of the UK. The heavens are most likely to open over Wales and the north west of England this evening.
