A month of rain is set to batter parts of the nation on Saturday as drinkers flock to reopened pubs. Between 35-50mm of rain is expected to fall in just 24 hours ruining plans for those hoping to enjoy a pint in a beer garden.

Saturday morning will start off with strong winds and downpours before becoming heavier throughout the day and eventually easing off in the evening.

The news comes as pubs, bars and restaurants across England will be allowed to reopen on Saturday after the government ordered them to close on March 23 to stop the spread of coronavirus.

But the wet weather means pubs will struggle to adhere to social distancing measures as drinkers stay inside to avoid being drenched.
