October has been a very up and down month when it comes to the weather in the UK, with warm sunny days and bright mornings mixed in with sudden and intense downpours of rain.
So far, so autumnal. As things move on through the month, though, we’re looking at an even more unsettled picture as cooler temperatures and more rain set in across the north while the south stays drier and warmer, though with some foggy mornings.
Later on in October, the split between a colder, soggier north and a warmer, drier south will become more pronounced: there’s more rain in store, and a lot of blustery days across the north-west in particular.
