The Canary Islands Government has declared a state of alert on the island of La Palma as ‘very heavy’ rain showers are forecast.
An amber weather warning has been issued for the island, with rainfall of up to 100mm in 12 hours forecast. A yellow warning for storms is also in force for La Palma until tomorrow.
The Canary Islands government said that the rest of the archipelago remains in a “pre-alert” state. Aemet, Spain’s national weather agency, has issued further yellow warnings for rain for El Hierro, La Gomera, and Tenerife, starting today and lasting until Tuesday.
Gran Canaria is also under a yellow warning today. No warnings have been issued for Fuerteventura and Lanzarote.
