UPDATED with latest: A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck at 10:44 a.m. this morning near Eureka, California.
Initial reports indicated it was a 6.6, but the U.S. Geological Survey later upgraded the jolt to 7.0, making it a major earthquake.

The tsunami Warning is canceled for the coastal areas of California and Oregon. No tsunami danger presently exists for this area.
