UK reports 49 more coronavirus-related deaths and nearly 1,000 new cases

According to data published on the Public Health England (PHE) dashboard on Thursday (August 6)an additional 49 deaths were recorded in all settings.This is the second lowest Thursday death toll since lockdown began on March 23, but a rise of 11 on last Thursday's number.Meanwhile a further 950 coronavirus tests came back positive, up by 49 from the day before.This is the highest number of positive cases recorded in the UK in a single day since June 26.It brings the seven day rolling average of cases up to 835, compared with 590 at the same point in July.
The UK's overall death toll has now reached 46,413 and the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases to 308,134. Today's daily.
