The UK has become famously bad at Eurovision - since the millennium our entries have come last place on fouroccasions. But it wasn't always that way.
In fact, the UK were early adopters of Eurovision, competing in the second year of the competition in 1957, and from 1959 until the present day we have never missed a year.
That's quite some going: in fact, our commitment means we have the record for most amount of consecutive entries at Eurovision since the song competition started.
And back in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, the UK often scored high on the big night. We won the competition five times, and came runner-up a massive 15 times.
