UK coronavirus death toll rises by 49 in increase of 11 on last Thursday

The UK's official  coronavirus  death toll has risen by 49 in the last 24 hours. This is an increase of 11 on the 38 reported this time last Thursday.

Last week was the lowest Thursday death toll since lockdown began - making today the second lowest. A total of 46,413 people have now died of the disease in all settings, including hospitals, care homes and the community.

There have been a further 950 positive cases confirmed by a test in the past 24 hours - an increase on the 892 of yesterday, and 670 the day before.

There has been a total of 308,134 cases of coronavirus in the UK as of today. On Thursday, July 30, 38 deaths were recorded, while on Thursday, July 23, 53 were reported.
