UFC Fighter Cain Velasquez Sentenced to Prison After 2022 Shooting Incident

Cain Velasquez is going to prison. The 42-year-old former UFC heavyweight champion has been sentenced to five years in prison following a shooting in 2022, Newsweek reports.

His sentencing came from Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Arthur Bocanegra on Monday (March 24). During the incident, he allegedly fired at a man in a car who was accused of sexually assaulting his son. Keep reading to find out more… The man was not struck by a bullet, but the defendant’s stepfather was struck instead. Cain was arrested for the incident and was released on bail.

He later admitted he handled the situation in the wrong way. “I know what I did, and I know what I did was very dangerous toward other people, not just to people involved…I understand what I did and I’m willing to do everything I have to do pay back that,” he said in a podcast appearance.
