Tyler Perry Studios is moving further into the unscripted TV world. The Atlanta-based company has formed a joint venture with Asylum Entertainment Group, the Endeavor-backed production business run by Steve Michaels.
Perry, who is largely known for scripted dramas and comedies, recently produced documentary Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story for Amazon.
His company will co-develop and co-produce unscripted projects with Asylum. As part of the move, Tyler Perry Studios has named Antoinetta Stallings as VP of Unscripted Programming.
Stallings, who joined the company as a post producer in 2019, recently earned an Emmy nomination for her work on PBS documentary The Price of Silence.
