The Manchester Evening News told last how neighbours on Darras Road in Gorton reported a woman was allegedly glassed and a man was seen apparently holding a knife in the street.
Police descended on the road at 7.46pm on Thursday night - the police helicopter spent about 45 minutes circling overhead following the disturbance, which was said to have exploded in a garden of one of the properties.
A large section of the road was cordoned off. Pictures from the scene showed a blood spattered slipper in the front garden of one home and shards of glass in the road.
