At least two members of the Royal Family are “appalled” by King Charles’ decision to kick Prince Harry and Meghan Markle out of Frogmore cottage.
After their exit from royal life back in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been living in the US. Despite being thousands of miles across the pond, they have continued to hit the headlines in the UK over their Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, and Harry’s explosive memoir Spare, which covered topics like Princess Diana’s death and the Duke’s childhood.
Early on Wednesday, The Sun reported that the new Monarch, who is set for his coronation later this year, kicked Harry and Meghan out of the house and subsequently offered the keys to disgraced royal Prince Andrew.
Royal expert Omid Scobie, who co-wrote the couple's unofficial biography Finding Freedom, has slammed the King’s decision while noting that communication is at “an all-time low.” In his column for Yahoo News, Omid wrote: "It’s news, sources tell me, that has left Harry and Meghan stunned, and at least two members of the Royal Family 'appalled'." While Omid did not name the royals who took issue with the head of the firm’s decision, he noted how the move had taken away the Sussexes "only sufficiently secure refuge.” "With the Sussexes’ still unable to access royal police protection when in the UK, there is just one remaining space that meets the family of four’s security needs when visiting — Frogmore Cottage,” he explained. "Just five minutes walk from Windsor Castle, and ensconced within the Metropolitan Police-led ring of steel surrounding the Windsor Estate, the couple’s British home has become Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet’s only sufficiently secure refuge in the country since their access to armed.
