Two areas that have not been hit by any government local lockdown measures are now among the 10 places with the highest infection rates in England.
Latest data shows Corby, Northants, and South Tyneside have experienced a rapid growth in cases in the last week. Only Pendle and emerging hotspot Bolton, the former currently covered by restrictions and the latter just coming out of local lockdown, are above Corby in the most recent list of infection rates in England.
The Northamptonshire town had 41 new cases in the seven days up to August 29, amounting to a rate per 100,000 people of 56.8, up from 22.2 the week before And South Tyneside reported 62 new cases, a rate of 41.1, up from 18 (11.9) in the week up to August 22.
