Two people have been arrested in a 25-year-old murder probe into the death of a baby boy. Found strangled and wrapped in plastic near Warrington on the morning of March 14, 1998, the infant was believed to have been just a few hours old when he tragically died.
Named Callum by detectives, the baby's parents were never traced and his true identity remains a mystery. Now seven months after a renewed appeal for information, Cheshire Police have confirmed two people have been arrested in relation to the death, reports the Liverpool Echo. Baby ‘Callum’ was discovered in woodland in the Callands area of the town in March 1998. A murder investigation was subsequently launched by detectives from Cheshire Police. “On Friday, July 28, 2023, detectives arrested a man and a woman from Liverpool in connection with the incident.
Both individuals have since been released on conditional bail.” The murder of Baby Callum sparked a massive investigation in the 90s, as thousands of people were interviewed and a special hotline number set up for anyone offering information.
