Two men rushed to hospital from Scots prison after 'assault' as another man charged

Two men were rushed to hospital after an alleged assault at a Scots prison last week. Police received report of an assault at the Low Moss jail near Bishopbriggs, Dunbartonshire, on Friday July 22 at around 4.30pm.The pair, aged 57 and 36, were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment following the incident.A man in his 20s has been charged and a report sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report around 4.30pm on Friday, July 22, of a serious assault at HMP Low Moss, Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire. "Two men, aged 57 and 36, were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

A 26-year-old man has been charged and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”The Scottish Prison Service has also been approached for comment.

Earlier this month a report suggested overcrowding in the jail had become “particularly troubling” during the coronavirus pandemic.
