Two men who have been charged with the murder of Aya Hachem have appeared in court. Shayl Suleman, 37, and Lewis Otman, 41, were yesterday charged with the murder of the former University of Salford student.

The law student was an innocent bystander who was shot with one of two bullets fired from a Toyota Avensis at 3pm. Mr Suleman, of Shear Brow, Blackburn, and Mr Otway, of Clitheroe Road, Manchester, have both been charged with the murder of Aya Hachem and attempted murder of Pacha Khan..
Neither defendant entered a plea to either of the charges at today's hearing. They will return to court on May 9 2022 for a plea and trial preparation hearing when it is anticipated they will enter their pleas.
